Civil Litigation

Overview

Civil disputes are rarely only about the law. They involve family property, long-standing business relationships and years of documents. Our civil litigation team has handled these matters since the firm was founded in the 1980s, and approaches each one with careful preparation and a clear view of the outcome the client needs.

We represent plaintiffs and defendants in suits before civil courts and the High Court, and in the appeals and execution proceedings that follow. Early in every matter we assess limitation, jurisdiction, documentary strength and the realistic route to resolution, whether that is a decree, an injunction or a negotiated settlement.

Because our practice also covers criminal and corporate litigation, we can advise when a civil dispute has parallel criminal or commercial dimensions and coordinate the strategy across forums.

Civil Litigation – FAQs

Courts can grant interim relief such as temporary injunctions or orders for preservation of property where the applicant shows a prima facie case, balance of convenience and irreparable harm. We assess whether such an application is appropriate in your matter.

Bring title documents, agreements, correspondence, notices, receipts and any court papers you have received. A short written timeline of events is also very helpful.

No. Many civil disputes are resolved through negotiation, mediation or settlement at different stages. We advise on whether and when settlement is in your interest.
